Better prompts, one good question at a time
Tell the coach what you want to get done. It asks the questions that matter and builds a clear prompt with you for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude Code. Free, no sign-up.
Coach
Hi! I'm your prompt coach. Tell me what you want to get done, in your own words, the way you'd explain it to a friend. It doesn't need to be perfect — that's my job.
How it works
1
Say what you need
In your own words. No jargon, no templates to memorize.
2
The coach asks
One question at a time, with options you can tap. Each answer fills a layer of your prompt.
3
Copy and go
Your prompt is ready for the AI you picked, and you've learned why it works.
What a great prompt contains
Eight layers. Not every task needs all eight, but every missing one is something the AI has to guess.
- Role
- Who the AI should be. A specific role brings expert vocabulary and judgment.
- Context
- Who you are, who it is for, and why. Without it, the AI guesses.
- Goal
- The task and the exact deliverable.
- Steps
- What the AI must cover, in order when order matters.
- Examples
- The fastest way to show what good looks like.
- Constraints
- What to respect or avoid.
- Format
- What the answer should look like.
- Success criteria
- How you will know the result works.
Guides to keep learning
See all guides- The anatomy of a great prompt: 8 layers AI needs
What makes a prompt work on the first try: role, context, goal, steps, examples, constraints, format and success criteria, with a worked example.
- How to give AI a role (and why 'expert' isn't enough)
Write roles that actually change the answer: specialty, experience, audience and priorities. Weak vs. strong role examples for common tasks.
- Context in prompts: the details that change the answer
Context is the most-skipped part of a prompt. What to include, how much is enough, and why explaining the reason behind a rule makes AI follow it better.
- Few-shot prompting: how examples make AI answers better
How to use examples in your prompts: how many to include, how to pick them, when to show what you don't want, and what to do if you have none.
- 7 prompt mistakes that waste your time (and the fixes)
Vague words, asking for everything at once, no format, only saying what you don't want and more common prompt mistakes, each with a concrete fix.
- Before and after: 5 real prompts, rewritten
Five everyday AI requests (a refund reply, a website, a spreadsheet, a support bot and a study session) rewritten with role, context, examples and format.
FAQ
Is it free?
Yes. The guided coach is free and unlimited. The AI coach is free too, with a daily limit on conversations.
Do you store my prompts?
No. The guided coach runs in your browser and sends nothing to any server. In the AI coach, your conversation is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI only to generate a reply; we do not store it.
What's the difference between the guided coach and the AI coach?
The guided coach uses questions designed in advance for each type of task and responds instantly. The AI coach tailors its questions to what you tell it.
Does it work for ChatGPT or Gemini?
Yes. Pick where you'll use the prompt and the coach adjusts the structure: XML tags for Claude, headed sections for ChatGPT and Gemini.
